I am posting this article here to accompany my Hot Motor Bikes and Choppers photo album because many of my photos were taken at this location. See video below.
Every Thursday evening there has been a cultural gathering of amazing motorcycles at the cul-de-sac by the Halifax ferry terminal. This is a public street.
The traffic signs indicated that they were permitted to do this.
It has been a wonderful cultural event enjoyed by thousands of passersby for more years then anyone can remember.
The motorcycle owners have been a delight to meet. They would talk about their awesome motor cycles and answer any questions. They permitted anyone to take photographs.
Many Haligonians would go down to the waterfront on Thursday evening just to see the new and rare custom creations. One would never know what rare biker might be passing through and would stop here to show their awesome rides. s you can see in my photo album.
But today as I talked with a couple of bike owners. They told me that they were no longer permitted to gather at the cul-de-sac. The signs were taken down and replaced with signs that just say “City Property”
The bikers were told that they were banned because it was a safety issue.
So why is it then that the signs now permit anyone to park there? The new signs do not restrict parking on the cul-de-sac.
As you can see from my video. The street is now blocked by vehicles. So were is the safety issue?
The bikers told me that the Stayners Pub owner beside the cul-de-sac is buddies with the new mayor.
Stayners hates the noise from the bikes, but want to be permitted to have loud music bands playing on his patio anytime and does not want to share the public area with anyone else’s cultural interests.
